Infant Massage Classes

Infant Massage helps baby relax, sleep better, eat better, and helps to enrich the bonding between you and baby. This class takes you through the steps of when and how to massage your infant, what types of natural oils to use, what infant massage does for your baby (including symptoms of colic!) as well as what it does for the parent doing the massage. This infant program includes demonstration, discussion, a short massage video and time for questions and answers at the end of the class. Pregnant Moms are welcome and will practice on dolls that will be provided and families with babies are, of course, welcome to bring their baby to class. $85 for three two hour sessions.

Happiest Baby Classes

This amazing method on calming and soothing your baby was developed by the pediatrician, Dr. Harvey Karp. Here you will learn simple, natural ways to stop your babies’ crying which will improve sleep, breastfeeding, and even symptoms of colic. This class will walk you through the “5 s’s” and show you how to turn off your baby’s “crying reflex”. This program will involve demonstration, discussion, a video and time for questions and answers at the end of class. Pregnant Moms, as well as families with babies, are welcome. If your baby is past three months of age please call for a consultation. $55 for one two hour session.

Wendy Rairdan retired after fourteen years of nursing in 2005 to be a stay-at-home Mom for her new baby boy. In 2008 she began working for a parent and child resource agency in central Alaska helping parents find support and resources through a statewide parent warm-line and facilitating parent support groups. Soon after, she became a ‘Happiest Baby on the Block’ instructor and began teaching the program to remote communities in Alaska in a statewide effort to help decrease the rate of Abusive Head Trauma (Shaken Baby Syndrome). She also spoke to parent groups on how to locate and utilize local parent resources while working as a representative of the agency in community wide events and programs. This experience revived her interest in infant massage and she received her certification in October 2009 through LovingTouch International. Wendy, her husband and son moved to British Columbia in March of this year and live in the North Vancouver. Wendy is a member of the Adoptive Families Association of British Columbia.
